Benefits
Founded in 1824, the Chi Phi Fraternity is the oldest men's college fraternity in existence today At Chi Phi you get to associate yourself with possibly the most diverse organization on campus. You get to meet men majoring across the whole range of what is offered at Florida Tech. Most people graduate from college knowing a lot of people but with very few friends they can actually trust. We provide the oppurtunity for you to make lifelong friendships with people you can confidently call your brothers. If you've always known you were born to lead you belong at Chi Phi. Come nurture your leadership abilities by taking an office, leading a commitee or just by being part of the decision making process. Visit our officers page to see what your options are. At Chi Phi, we don't just say, we do.
The Process
In order to become a Brother of the Xi Delta Chapter of Chi Phi there are three main stages that need to be completed.
Rush
Firstly as a Rushee, we are looking for men that best exemplify the three main values of Chi Phi: Truth, Honesty, and Personal Integrity. We are also looking for men that have similar interests to the house. The Xi Delta Chapter is a dynamic group of people whose interests vary widely. This is what makes us unique. We have no particular niche like other fraternities, so a Rushee is encouraged to be themselves. The Rush period is a time in which we throw events that best show the interest of the brotherhood. Events vary from Paintball trips to Wednesday night Poker Tournaments to Rock Climbing. As a Rushee all of these events are free to prospective members. If you are interested in becoming a Brother then we encourage you to visit our house and meet the Brothers. All Brothers will answer any question that you may have regarding the House, Pledging, or even life at FIT.
Bids
After the Rush period has ended, Bids will be given out. A Bid is a formal invitation to become a member of our fraternity. As a Bidee we encourage you to share your decision with your family. We understand that many parents have a false impression of what Fraternity life is like, and we are working hard to get that stereotype out of mainstream. If at any point during Rush or the Bidee period, your parent wishes to contact the house, they are more than welcome to.
Pledge
If a Bidee decides to accept the bid, they will then go through a formal pinning ceremony in which they take a pledge to work to become a Brother in Chi Phi. The Bidee then becomes a Pledge or New Member. The Pledge period lasts the better part of a semester, and requires a minimum of 3 hours of your time a week. After the Pledge Process has completed, there will be an initiation, and then the New Member will become a Brother in the Chi Phi Fraternity.
